« Vic-Bilh » betekent « oude land » en ligt binnen de Béarn. Het gebied is dun bevolkt en rijk aan tradities. De bevolking is erg gastvrij. Oog in oog staan met een ree of everzwijn is geen uitzondering in deze omgeving waar U kunt genieten van een heldere sterrenhemel zonder invloed van licht-verstrooing.Industrie is nagenoeg niet aanwezig en in de file staan kennen we niet. Een uitstapje naar Andorra is gemakkelijk in een dag te doen. Naar de Bardenas Reales, een ruige onbewoonde streek ten westen van Saragossa kunt U in een dag plannen.Aan de Franse kant van de Pyreneen kunt U genieten van de op vele plaatsen ongerepte natuur met daar tussen kleine traditionele boerderijen en typische dorpjes. Hier kunt U tegen een redelijke prijs in de plaatselijke auberges eens rustig eten en drinken.
Bent U meer gefascineerd door het stadse, dan is een bezoek aan Pau met zijn « Boulevard des Pyrenees », bekend om z’n palmen en bananenplanten en uitzicht over de Pyreneen keten zeke
