Description

Summer or winter, this carefully restored 19th century cottage next to a small farm provides a cosy retreat from the stresses of modern life. Both bedrooms have views across the marshes to the Gironde Estuary, as well as a little windmill which is typical of the region. Situated on the scenic “Route Verte”, it is only 10 minutes drive from the sandy beaches of Meschers or a two minute walk to the fishing port of Les Monards, with its café and popular restaurant.
“La Marée” has its own south-facing garden, sheltered by a mulberry tree, with a terrace and built-in barbecue. There is a small lawn and flowers include roses, pinks, poppies, hibiscus, lavender and other herbs. Known locally as the "Côte de Beauté", this stretch of coast where the Gironde meets the Atlantic is popular for its calm waters and soft sand. One of France's prettiest villages, Talmont – renowned for its stone cottages and hollyhocks - can be reached by bicycle along the coastal path.
